INTERRELIGIOUS COORDINATING COUNCIL CONDEMNS TERROR ATTACK IN JERUSALEM
The Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel – a coalition of more than 60 institutions and individuals from all over Israel -denounces the terrorist attack by Palestinians against innocent Jews who were praying in their synagogue in Jerusalem. This act only increases the cycle of violence in Jerusalem and fans the flames of religious and national hatred.
In contrast, we say that this act represents a form of blasphemy, desecrating the name of God, and we reject it completely.
Instead, we say that all human beings are created in the image of God, and all have the right to life.
We call upon religious, cultural and political leaders in Israel and in Palestine to end this cycle of violence and incitement to violence.
“He who saves a single life, is as if he or she has saved the whole world”. (from the Talmud and the Koran)
